The Only Mortal in Heaven, Episode 1: Dead and Wanted

The loop starts small: a cardboard box, a door swinging open, a man turning back into the rain. In Episode 1 of The Only Mortal in Heaven, William Jones loses ten years of work in one afternoon, then walks into his own bedroom and finds his girlfriend with another man. No shouting. He just slides back out into the storm, broke, homeless, wishing he could wake up as somebody else.

Careful what you wish for. Headlights flare, and the frame cuts to black. When William opens his eyes, his head is pounding and he is lying in a stone hall lined with empty beds. Two women lean over him: a horned demoness in black leather and a pale angel with white wings. 'We're your guardians, William.' That is the shot you replay, two impossible faces turning toward one very mortal man. The loop is the tease. The full episode is where his afterlife begins.
